On Sunday, February 14, 2010, the congregation of the church solemnly commemorated the Fortieth Day Memorial of the Nag Hammadi martyrs, who received the crown of martyrdom as they were shot and killed while exiting the church after celebration of the Divine Liturgy on the Feast of the Nativity.
On this day, the congregation remembered in its prayers Mina Helmy Said, Bishoy Farid Labib, Boula Atef Yassa, Ayman Zakaria Louka, Abanoub Kamal Nashed, and Rafik Refaat William.
His Grace Bishop Serapion has posted an Arabic Pastoral Message of H.G. Bishop Serapion on the Fortieth Day Memorial of the Martyrs of Nag Hammadi.
In the Arabic homily after the memorial service, Fr. Mina Wahba spoke about the Nag Hammadi Martyrs: Persecution of Copts in Modern Day.
May the Lord repose their souls in eternal joy and rest, and comfort all the families and those who are grieving over this tragic incident.
