With God’s grace and through your prayers, a Community Service Spiritual Day for the college youth on November 21, 2009 was a blessed success. The purpose of this day was to help the less fortunate all around us in the form of a spiritual day of service and fellowship.
The youth of the church, including many students from the University of California at San Diego (UCSD), gathered at the church early Saturday morning and took the blessing of the Divine Liturgy. Afterwards, an agape brunch prepared by members of the church was served. The youth then heard an introduction by Hegumen Father Mina and a spiritual word on service to the Lord’s brethren.
After these spiritual words, the youth traveled to a local retailer and purchased food and toys based on a list of items needed by less fortunate families in northern San Diego. The food and toys were then gathered and placed in baskets for distribution via Lifeline, a local nonprofit organization, and delivered the next day.
Overall, the day was a great blessing for all who attended.
